IN-DEPTH PROFESSIONAL TRAINING FOR CONTEMPORARY DANCER
art direction Franca Ferrari

Our program provides a stimulating support to your creativity as well as a suitable preparation for a profession that involves several complex roles: dancer-choreographer-teacher.
We propose a "two years" in-depth training program, organized as a university course divided into modules as shown in the diagram below.

Our Diploma in Dance Studies offers you person-centered learning which is right for a competitive freelancer activity. Covering different aspects of dance, you'll be able to take on major responsibilities when it's time to found a company or a school, for instance.

THE PHILOSOPHY OF THIS SCHOOL

We do not propose a training base for the whole dance, but a specific journey for contemporary dance. A teaching, — based on the principles which govern the body —, dedicated to whom wants to dance the Contemporary dance, a teaching that goes beyond the concept of "geometric figure". Our aim is to provide a know-how to set goals for yourself based on skills and knowledge you want to acquire: we consider the contemporary dance as a constantly evolving form of art.
To be a partaker of the ongoing transformation of the dance requires a different approch, other than the usual ability required to learn a style or a certain technique over time.
To express our thought synthetically, we'd like to share this statement:
"I am wary of all systematic and I avoid them. The will to system is a lack of honesty"
from "Twilight of the Idols"by Friedrich Nietzsche

HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR COURSE OF STUDY

The artistic direction asks for an in-depth personal interview first, or even more than one. We, together, would like to understand if this is the school you are looking for. It 's the first step.
The modules that make this process up are proposed following a "loop" mode, which means that basically the entire cycle has neither a begin nor an end. As a matter of fact, the training begins the day you start the first lesson, and it ends when you've experienced the whole modules program. Those who wish to enter the exams for graduation must attend the entire cycle of modules.
If you do not have this goal, we agree a range of options, with the direction of a customized program suited to fulfil any personal gap, that help you work towards your own goals. At the end you will receive a certificate of attendance based on the customized program you have chosen.

There will be a scholarship for those who participate in the full program of lessons during the week. To complete the frequency you can participate in the exams to get a diploma. In addition, the program is also open to those who want to complete a previous training: during the interview with Franca Ferrari we'll be able to define the most appropriate program for you.

FAQ | Let's try to answer a few questions:

Can I start at any time of the year?
In theory, yes you can. An interview with our management is required first.

What is the starter level and in which class is it integrated?
We do not divide the modules and classes to level. This is a condiion of this type of teaching built with "modules". We do not learn a "technique" so there is nothing that the body must do "before" and/or " after".
The exchange between bodies, perceptions and experiences are crucial: the beginning is very difficult, it is almost like learning a new language, and there is nothing better than sharing these lessons with those whom already speak the language. And for those who are already way ahead, it gives a clear opportunity to understand that a part of the journey has been already done.
The program is constantly evolving, so there could not be any feeling of "repeat".
What you've experienced during the training become unique in a sense.

Is it an approved course at an institutional level (university, academy or other)?
No, it's a private course. The school, however, is very well known because it offers vocational training for contemporary dance since 1993.
For ten years ( 1993-2003 ) we established and developed in Italy the well known "RIDC Institute of Paris" Program: the Italian CIMD prepared students to obtain the French state degree.
Since 2003, we continues our philosophy independently.

is there any entrance audition?
There are no entrance audition, the evaluation is made after we've read a CV, and prior one or more interview(s) accordingly.

What about the cost?
Information is sent to each person on demand and of course it's precised during the interview.

Is it compulsory to attend the entire two-years program?
For those who want to appear for examinations and obtain a degree, yes it is, except for the midweek technique program, which is to be discussed for those who only want to fulfil any personal gap.
